Music? Biodiversity? What’s the link?

Welcome to Ginkgo Music’s website and blog. We exist to provoke and inspire the creation of music that makes a difference. Our mission is to halt deforestation and ensure there is a future for gorillas, hummingbirds, orchids, butterflies, birds of paradise and the other 10 million species with whom we share this beautiful and extraordinary planet. Visit our about us page to find out more.

Right now we’re working on tropical forest project: ecuador, a collection of cool acoustic songs by established and emerging artists in recordings made exclusively for Ginkgo Music that will help to create new wildlife reserves in Ecuador. Earlier this month songwriter Kate Walsh from Brighton recorded the first song for tropical forest project: ecuador, and Alan Lacroix will be recording his song ‘August’. See our projects page to find out more.

Get involved - if you have any ideas you want to share with us, or you’re a musician with a song that’s got what it takes to sit next to Kate and Alan’s, do please let us know. We are also raising money to cover costs for tropical forest project: ecuador - please contact us if you would like to make a donation.

We’ll be posting to this blog regularly and over the coming months exploring how music and ecology can come together to inform and inspire people. Please join our mailing list if you’d like to be notified about future updates.

I hope you enjoy participating in this new space. For now I’ll leave you with the words of two great people:

“There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” Nelson Mandela

“Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world.” Percy Bysshe Shelley
