The Ecuador CD project has been created to protect wildlife in one of the most astonishingly biodiverse nations on Earth.
Over 1600 bird species - Up to 17% of the planet's total reside here.
Over 16000 plant species, including 4000 orchids, of which 1000 are unique to Ecuador.
The Cloud Forest of Mindo has the highest density of hummingbird species to be found anywhere.
Very little intact habitat remains, perhaps as little as 10% — many species here are classified as globally threatened. They exist nowhere else.
To secure the future of this world treasure a series of wildlife reserves has been established by Ecuadorian NGO Fundación Jocotoco, working in conjunction with UK charity World Land Trust (patron: Sir David Attenborough). For every 20 CDs sold, 1 acre of tropical forest in Ecuador will be purchased and protected forever.
